Give way for road construction, Wike urges traders

PORT HAR-COURT— GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has appealed to traders displaying their wares on Creek Road in Port Harcourt, to remove them for ongoing construction work on the road to go on smoothly.

The governor, who made the appeal, yesterday, assured that his administration will build a state of the art market for them in the area.
The governor said he had to come to appeal to the traders himself, so that they will show understanding.
He said: “I am here to personally appeal to you to stop trading on the middle of the road. This will allow the contractors to continue with their job.
“The contractors have to finish this job. It will not be wise that the state’s money is lost because you are distracting the contractors. Please assist me by leaving the middle of the road, so that they can work.”
The governor also directed engineers from a construction firm to commence work yesterday towards resolving the flood challenge in the state.
