Its Director General, Olusegun Oshinowo, noted: “This is a vindication of the principled stand of NECA and its members and a celebration of the rule of law.”
The association claimed that the association’s carriage had been at variance with democratic ethos and amounting to usurpation of the functions of other regulatory agencies like the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
NECA, the umbrella body of the organised private sector (OPS) had approached the court for interpretation of the powers of the council against what it perceived as being in contravention of the Consumer Protection Council Act, 1992.
